Building the digital infrastructure behind Dubai’s gold retail ecosystem
Dubai City of Gold needed more than a new website. It needed a connected digital platform capable of serving consumers, supporting jewellers and distributing one of its most important pieces of information of Dubai’s official gold rate reliably across touchpoints.
Mediology Forward worked closely with the team to redesign the experience, rebuild the platform and create the supporting systems required to manage both jewellers and consumers at scale.

Problem
A high-traffic platform without the infrastructure to support its ecosystem
Dubai City of Gold sits at the intersection of consumers, jewellers and one of Dubai’s most searched commodities: gold.
The existing platform was not designed to effectively manage these different audiences. Jeweller information was difficult to maintain, consumer experiences were fragmented, and the website had limited infrastructure to support new digital services.
At the same time, the platform publishes Dubai’s gold rate — a high-intent utility that attracts significant recurring traffic.
The challenge was therefore bigger than redesigning pages.
It was about creating a digital foundation capable of managing the jewellery ecosystem while turning high-frequency gold-rate traffic into an ongoing relationship with consumers.

Solution
From website to connected digital platform
Mediology Forward embedded with the team to rethink the platform across product, engineering and user experience.
We designed and developed a new Dubai City of Gold website with a stronger content architecture, improved discovery and a dedicated jeweller-management setup that allows the organisation to manage participating jewellers more efficiently.
The platform was built around the real operating needs of the ecosystem rather than treating the website as a standalone marketing layer.
The result is a system where consumer experiences, jeweller information and gold-rate services can work together as part of one digital product.

Jeweller Management
Turning a directory into a manageable ecosystem
A key requirement was creating a structured way to manage jewellers across the platform.
We developed a jeweller-management layer that enables the Dubai City of Gold team to organise, maintain and surface jeweller information through the website.
Instead of manually managing disconnected pages, the platform now has a scalable structure that can support a growing network of participating jewellery businesses.
This gives the organisation greater operational control while making it easier for consumers to discover and engage with jewellers.
We did not begin with a fixed software product or a predefined website scope.
We started with the operating challenges of the organisation, managing jewellers, serving consumers, handling high-value gold-rate traffic and creating stronger digital engagement — and engineered the systems around them.
That meant working across:
Product and experience design
Website engineering
Jeweller management workflows
Gold-rate integration
Consumer engagement
Apple and Google Wallet experiences
Platform architecture and scalability
The result is not simply a redesigned website.
It is a digital layer connecting Dubai City of Gold, its jeweller ecosystem and consumers.
